re: Tangipahoa Parish rape victim ordered to pay her abuser child support

It's a jury of 12 and they can vote however they choose. Id bet majority vote not guilty, with father paying child support for years, and being granted custody. Mom is no saint. According to the law, he is in the wrong, but let a grandjury decide. Them saying no, clears DA from bringing a case he won't win.

Just won the case for the prosecution.
Jury nullification. Look it up.

The GJ will decide in the way the DA leads them.
Ham sammiches, and whatnot.

Says something about your jury if you take a pass on a 30 year old fricking a 16 year old with the results walking and talking, serving as a time stamp.

Correct. We know after all this time has passed how he will lead them too.

I see the Barnes' defense team sent out their talking points. If a jury in Tangi doesn't convict a clear case of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, I will have to completely rethink my stance on the parish.
Olderthandirt is 100% a close family member or heavily involved with Barnes, it is really creepy seeing your defense of him in this thread and the excuses for a 30 year old dude banging a 16 year old.

I don't know him and I really don't care if he gets convicted but he won't do any real time.
But keep clutching your pearls.

It will not happen if he is not asked. When the reporter was interviewing him, he said, we found out what happened and have taken steps to make sure it doesn't happen again. The reporter neglected to ask what it was that they found out had happened.
The guy that interviewed Edwards was Ken Benitez. He is the mouthpiece for Tangi parish government especially the sheriff's office. Nothing comes out of his mouth that isn't first approved by the ones he is interviewing.

I doubt he has real advertisers, he probably pays them to let him mention their business. Dude has literally been doing local cable news for 30 years.

Set across from him at the hibachi grill at kirin awhile back. He seemed like an unpleasant individual. Didn’t interact with anyone at the table.

I highly doubt any grandjury will vote to indict, unless DA really wants them too. Alcohol, Bars, fake id's, consensual sex, custody issues, etc. Will be hard to get any conviction.
This is more of a slam dunk on the felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile (aka Statutory rape). Assuming the dates of birth for the three people involved are accurate and medical records support a pregnancy pre 17 years old the only hope a defense attorney has is jury nullification and a good ADA would keep the majority of the extraneous information you mentioned from ever getting into evidence. Slut shaming, the potential consensual nature, IDs, etc are not a defense for this particular crime and that is statutory.

OK, you are from the area, and may know the answer to my next question. We have established that the Sheriff's dept. Did something that appears shady on the surface, and the Sheriff himself, was less than forthcoming aboot what happened.
We have established that there is a possibility the judge looks shady in this. Many people from the area have stated, in this thread, that the judge is shady AF.
My question is, is the DA at least honest, and attempting to be a champion of justice? Understand that I want err'body involved that broke laws tried. Him, her, the sheriff, his minions, the judge, whoever. Send anybody that broke the law to the Graybar Hotel.
This is in all the papers of the nation, and some international ones. The DA's next steps are under a microscope. Sending it to a GJ and putting in minimal effort to get an indictment will get a cockroach a quick shot of Bengal roach spray, in the media.

Why is this thread still going so damned strong? Anything new happen or are Bronc and Old just slinging mud?

I just check it a few times a day to see if anything else happened. Pretty interested in how this turns out. Not sure why because I don't know anyone involved.

Not talking to strangers at a hibachi grill is an indication of personality?
Posted on 6/21/22 at 10:33 am to Jack Daniel
I don’t want to talk to anyone at a hibachi. Throw the shrimp in my mouth clown
