Bragging about political connections and name-dropping are the national past times of Tangipahoa Parish, if not all of South La.
I don't know how many times I've cringed listening to an older person brag about who their cousin was or how well they know this old boy who used to be sheriff, or a fella downtown who can take care of his parking tickets, etc etc.
"Well bubba, maybe that's why your roads are shite and everyone you grew up with who was able to go to college moved away..."

That's a level of political inbreeding that even rural East Texas counties have trouble keeping up with.

It's damn near tradition in Tangi. I love it when I have some a-hole tell me this, I'm like big deal I know a bunch of people too. My favorite being Tangi's anchorman Ken Benitez who thinks he's a big deal. Then there's the self-published SLU librarian whose books read like an 8th grader wrote them. His contribution to discourse at one time was repeatedly calling St George as St. George Wallace anywhere he can comment it on local news websites while he sends his own kids to private school.
Perhaps the only reason I choose to stay here is to be a continual thorn in the side every so often. I know Ken blocked me from commenting on action news 17 facebook posts because I called his continual online fellation of JBE after his first gubernatorial election.
I dunno, I hate seeing it. It can be a good place to live but it's always the same assholes who think they're hotshots but nothing more than big fish in a small pond that keep it down. Same assholes don't realize the damage they cause. Which reminds me, I noticed a few months ago the Corner Cafe in Ponchatoula is closed down. If I recall correctly, they were big JBE supporters. Huh, color me shocked.

They have fooked this up so bad that they need to start running with full transparency. They also need to stop saying they can't talk aboot anything, and start answering questions, with full, invasive disclosure.
I would like to see them answer questions, in deposition, from an attorney that lives 500 miles away.

I would normally agree with but in this case you would be wrong. The Layrisson's and the Edwards are not really friends. Goes all the ways back to the 1980 election when Eddie Layrisson pulled the upset and beat Frank Edwards. JBE and Daniel's Dad.
