No way I would buy a daily driver that old. No Bluetooth or Apple CarPlay. No thanks.

I rode in probably a 2004/2005 Tahoe back when it was a fairly new model. It belonged to one of our paralegals, and since the clients paid mileage, he would volunteer for chauffeur duty. He drove us all across Louisiana visiting everything from parish jails to corporate offices, and it was honestly the best-riding vehicle I've ever spent time with. I pulled his mileage reimbursement towards the end, and it was over $120K (across several years), so I probably logged 50K miles riding shotgun. Based on that completely unscientific measure, I'd say go for it.

That said, I drive a 2010 Tundra myself, and that thing is a comfortable ride in its own right. Unfortunately, no matter how fast I drive, I can't seem to get better than about 15 mpg.

Good vehicle, but understand that it’s now 15+ years old. Expect to have to do some interior rework. Make sure it was not a snow belt car.

That really sucks.

My yukon has the 4.8 and I get 16.5.

Screw that generation, get the first gen 2 door tahoe or the 8th gen GMT 400 suburban. Those will be a collector and will only go up in value. The Tony Soprano classic.

What is nuts about the GMt400 platform is that it was to this day, the most aerodynamic of GM's truck/SUV platforms.

I've got an old beat up 95 that I still drive around in. The TBI motor is getting old and I'd often thought about putting in a early 00's LS series motor with a decent 6 speed behind it and see what the mileage goes up to.

I know a lot of guys are doing that now and those with 6 spd manuals are getting around 20+ mpg in some setups. That's damned good for a fullsize truck.

a few years ago one of my coworkers found an 03 Tahoe that had been garage kept by an elderly lady. This was 2017 and the SUV had a ridiculously low amount of miles. Something like 27K. He bought it for a steal and continues to drive it today.

The seats and AC in that generation were tGOAT

If you are going with an older Tahoe, go with the generation just after the one you are considering.

With the fuel management system that shuts 4 cylinders off at speed and burns oil?

I have 2 2011s and they have 150K and 180K miles and have had zero issues.

My two: Throttle body replacement on one and steering wheel position sensor on the other. Replaced both myself.

If you don’t drive current vehicles like a retard, most will run for a loooong time without issue,

the 2000-2006 tahoe or suburban is to 40 year old black men today what the 1984-1986 Cutless Supreme was to 40 year old black men in 2000-2006.

One of the best vehicles we owned... 2006

Unfortunately, after 13 years small things kept going bad on it...

traded it in, in 19...

4WD as well...
