Either you can do it or you can't
A lot of these requirements or licenses are like getting papers on a dog.
They prove the breeding of the dog but if the dog fell off a truck and somebody found it if the dog could hunt it could still hunt.

Totally agree. Law school was a waste of time and money. Would’ve learned more just going straight to bar study. Let the bar exam take the place of law school and require those who pass to get a one- two year law degree that provides supervised practice experience and instruction on a particular area of law before they can start practicing.

Law school may be the biggest financial racket of all time.
For most Students, it is a complete waste of time and money.

LoL. I was such a rube that young JB signed up for law school because I wanted to be an FBI Agent and they were hiring lawyers. I thought I could go to school and pick a “major” just like in undergrad. I killed it in the first two semesters and only then found out I had to take a set curriculum moving forward. Contracts, admiralty law, tax law? frick that. I quit and eventually paid off my $7500 in loans.

frick you. No it wasn’t. You failed out first semester and don’t wanna go back through it. Law school is miserable and difficult. Mostly the first year.

A person does not have to graduate from law school in Virginia; just pass the bar exam. At least that is how it was in 1996 when I lived there.

It is more than just passing the bar it is an apprenticeship
Virginia requires 3 years of law office study, 40 weeks per year, 25 hours per week, with 3 hours per week of direct supervision by an attorney. Supervising attorney must have at least 10 years of experience. Note that the apprentice may not be employed by or compensated by the supervising attorney.

Then the situation has changed in the past 23 years. When I read about it an attorney was mentoring his secretary.
