I believe Michigan is the only state that allows you to take both the FE and PE (Engineering) without having a engineering degree.

Am I the only one who thinks a law degree shouldn't be required to sit for the bar?

i agree with you, built the structures built around generating revenues says they will never allow it

You are a fricking moron.

I took the bar in three states and not one of them was multiple-choice only and I am pretty sure there aren't any that were then or are now.

27 (possibly more now) states are UBE, and the UBE has a multiple choice section and two writing sections, so you're already wrong about more than 50% of the country. The written portion is an entire day in and of itself.

Quit talking about things that you clearly know nothing about.

No
The multi-state bar exam is multiple choice adn is used in most if not the other 49 states. Additionally, the ethics exam is multiple choice exam. Louisiana is not part of the multi-state, rather La Bar is 9 exams all essay. 3 exams on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8 hours a day.

I see that the its not in the rest of the states.

The proven point is you have no idea what you are talking about.

I went to a semester of law school and it was really easy

Law school course work, in and of itself, is pretty easy. HOWEVER, competing with your peers and actually excelling in law school is very difficult. This is logical, because being bad lawyer is probably pretty easy, but being a good lawyer is very difficult. It’s good that you dropped out of law school because you, sir, would have been a bad lawyer.

I think requiring the degree is just a way to protect the fact that law school is a rip-off

1 year is enough. 1 year + apprenticing is waaaaayyyy better than 3 years of LS

You think a bunch of lawyers whom run the law schools are gonna let their gravy train disappear like that?

Definitely not! Those "lawyers" also have an interest in keeping poor grammar from showing up in legal briefs/pleadings. Remember, "whom" is receiving the action, while "who" is performing the action.

Why is there only one type of law degree you can get to practice law?

A physician can be either MD or DO

A dentist can be either DDS or DMD

Why is there no counterpart to a JD?

Years ago, I'd spend hours and hours sitting around a table, throwing chips and bullshitting with up to 10 other people. Occasionally, legal topics would enter into the conversation.

On those special days, when one or two of my chip throwing, bullshitting buddies had been trained in that field, I'd interject with, "you're a lawyer...you get up in this discussion." After joining td, I now know why they chose to sit on the sideline.

Everybody's plumber cousin knows more about the law than any lawyer could hope to know.

"It depends" can't mean that there are intricacies that change the analysis. It definitely can't mean that there are different areas of law, which take certain specialized knowledge. It certainly can't mean that there are 100's of different jurisdictions, with their own way of doing things.

I understand now. I apologize to any of you that I might have tried to pull into retarded discussions when you just wanted to throw some chips.

There is so much information covered on a bar exam that you wouldn’t otherwise know without substantial legal training.

No, it isn’t. I doubt any state has an all multiple choice bar exam, and I know every state that uses the Uniform Bar Examination (which is an overwhelming majority of states) has multiple choice, essay, and MPT.
