Louisiana three cities in the top 10. In your face bitches!!!

I am suspicious as to why they ranked in group of 3. Did they just look at tax collections and state funding for law enforcement and jail funding. They then drew out the crime stats per 100k, then poof there is your mythical meaningless number we came up with to rank your town.

Downtown mobile is a nice place. Had to spend couple days there for work. Nice bars and restaurants. Did not feel unsafe.

Mobile’s violent crime is very condensed.
Most visitors would never have a reason to go into the truly bad areas.

My wife was almost a victim of a car jacking, and armed robbery, I was almost victim of gang carjacking, (saw little kids in car and backed off)I have had cars broken into and robbed about 20 times, all the neighbors have been robbed multiple times, had car hit n runs 3 times so far, had to hire private security for about 6 months.

My neighbor saw a murder in line at Taco Bell, doctor down the street got shot at 9 am in mornin, when he caught someone breaking into his car, another teenager came home from school to catch a bunch of thugs breaking into his house and they chased him down the Main Street shooting at him.

So I would say pretty ducking dangerous.

Damn. I've lived in and around BR (#10) for 43 of 45 and have years never experienced anything like this. My truck got broken into 2 or 3 times when I lived around LSU but that's pretty much all I can think of.

Living just a county over from Mobile, I try to avoid it like the plague and probably will no longer have to work there day in and day out soon.

Bingo. Avoid Prichard and you’ll be fine most anywhere in Mobile.

I’ve been to Mobile enough to say that I’d take my chances walking thru there before NO.

Poor black kids have no chance in these cities because their adults are beyond broken.

While I agree with this about Prichard, there are other parts of Mobile that I would not want to be anywhere close or after dark

This is correct. Prichard gets the bad reputation, perhaps not totally deserved now a days, but there are multiple problem areas throughout the city. Farnell Drive seems to have one shooting per month.

Jackson is more dangerous than all those cities except New Orleans and Memphis.

Jackson, MS is the defacto #1 shithole in the US.
Spent a few weeks up there in the past couple of months. Locals say the water still isn’t safe to drink. Potholes are even worse than New Orleans. And while I was there, the City stopped trash collection because of some dispute between the mayor and council. All of that with a huge homeless problem and more drugs and prostitution than I’ve seen anywhere in a long time.

True story: I was driving through the parking lot of Walmart in Clinton, MS (western edge of Jackson). Anyway, there is a wooded area on one side of the parking lot. I happened to look into the woods and it was like a scene from a zombie apocalypse movie. These physically deformed, drug-addled beings were lurching out of the woods towards me. I got the frick out of there and went to Canton that night for dinner.

I've lived in Mobile a good chunk of my life and have never had any issues at all living there.
