As a taller guy I always felt the Tacoma’s just feel super small.

If it’s just you and the wife and you don’t plan on hauling anything bigger than a few bags of sand the Tacoma is perfect. I love Tacomas and really wanted one but when I started test driving them, I quickly realized it’s an absolute no with kids. I got a Tundra instead.

I have an 08 4-door 4WD with over 350k miles. I pull loaded trailers all the time for projects all over Texas. I have two small kids and the back seat fits two car seats comfortably. Still gets great gas mileage, too

Find a nice 2023 V6. The Turbo 4 cylinders are still experimental in my book
No truck should have a 4 cylinder.

The respected YouTube poster, The Car Care Nut seems to like this engine a lot. But, his message is quite clear, it is an engine that cannot be neglected. 5K max oil changes are a must, not the 10K Toyota is putting out.

Got a 2026 4x4 SR5 that I turned into a TRD Pro with wheels, level, tires, etc.
I’ll never go back to a 1/2 ton. This truck is so much fun to drive and it can pull and haul whatever I need.
It drives like a sports car with similar interior of a jeep.

the frontier seems to be more preferable than the Tacoma or canyon

I have owned all 3. I settled on the Frontier for now. Those tiny engines in the other 2 are high priced trash. The 2016 to 2022 Tacoma was perfect, the new ones are not. The Canyon was a hoot to drive, but wouldn't keep it past the warranty.

The 4.0L never got good gas mileage. Bulletproof, but with all the power of a 4-Cyl and fuel economy of a V8.
