Am I to feel bad for those that decided to get addicted?
You can feel however you want towards them, that's your opinion. But to call a drug that saves peoples lives everyday the worst thing for society in a long time is ridiculous.

While not totally their fault manufacturers and some doctors don't have clean hands in all of this.

I disagree. I can think of far worse things to enter our society. #bamafans (kidding)

Junkies won't learn from being saved form overdoses. They use Narcan as an excuse to try more drugs without fear of dying.
I have volunteered with a women's rehab/homeless shelter for the past 5 years. This is simply not true. It is, however, a common thought process for healthcare workers who simply have not served this community outside of the building they are employed in. I even held this belief for some time before I began to volunteer with the recovering addicts.
I will tell you this, the addicts that I have met on their recovery journey, are THE MOST sincere, honest, and LOYAL people I have ever met. They are grateful for their lives and they put in the work each day to encourage others to obtain/maintain their own sobriety.

when was this? docs can't call in those scrips where I live, and haven't been able to for some time

you said get mad at opiods not the Narcan.
Looks like we could go around and around with this all day.
In my opinion, and many in the medical field also feel, these people aren't sick. Drug abuse isn't a disease. It's something they chose to do. Narcan just prolongs the inevitable. Kind of like paying to house someone on death row for decades.

No one has ever felt great from narcan. It blocks your high completely and pushes you straight into withdrawals.
OP was likely referencing suboxone, which is a antagonist/agonist, so it keeps you on a level high.
And the majority of healthcare professionals do not hate narcan. That's just plain stupid.

Works both ways. Plenty of innocent lives have been lost to junkies trying to get their next fix. You don't have to work in healthcare to know that. I'm not saying it's the worst thing for society, but lets not pretend it's not a double edged sword.

okay, can't confirm this but I heard recently, second hand, that having opioids in your possession, even though prescribed to you, in the form of an out of date scrip is a drug crime, guy at work who claims his fil is a DEA narc told him that
I wouldn't get rid of them though, never know when you might need one

I didn’t know what Narcan was before opening this thread

it pisses people off to receive Narcan because they can't get high for a while
Can we inject them with a long acting version of Narcan? Say 30 days or longer?

Wish they got it to my sister in time, I know that. It was two years in May

Honestly just confirms my belief that "health care professionals" (I only remove the quotes for actual physicians, dentists, and podiatrists) are a bunch of arrogant pricks.
Most of them will admit off the record that they prefer to prescribe the opiates that are mixed with acetaminophen because if you take too much it shuts down your liver.
"Do no harm" my arse.

well you said people are "feeling great on narcan." So I was giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming you meant another drug.
If you meant narcan, then that is the dumbest shite I've ever heard. It doesn't make you feel great at all.
And healthcare professionals that hate narcan should find a different line of work, being that it's a drug responsible for saving countless lives, which is the main reason to be involved in healthcare.
There should be no judgement of a patient. We are at the hospital to help people, not judge if someone deserves to be saved or not.
GFY
