OP, now aside from your thankless EMT, your bewbe nurse and two "doctors", you've heard from a number of posters that one would surmise work closely with those suffering from addictive disorders, as well as a few who have direct experience of addiction through the loss of loved ones.
So I'm curious, now OP... T or F... what is YOUR opinion?

This society has tried to remove all negative consequences to bad behavior.
We can delay the consequences but eventually mother nature will get its revenge.
We see the consequence of homelessness but cities continue the practices of California.
Healthcare providers who work in emergency rooms know the truth.
Politicians should be required to pull emergency room duty and work with the homeless when Congress is not in session.
Betcha there would be some changes.

No junkie is feeling great on Narcan, it’s the exact opposite because it sends them into immediate withdrawal.

What the frick are you going on about? What does homelessness have to do with narcan? Pro-tip: not nearly as much as you think

In my opinion, and many in the medical field also feel, these people aren't sick. Drug abuse isn't a disease. It's something they chose to do. Narcan just prolongs the inevitable. Kind of like paying to house someone on death row for decades.
And just as many others in the medical field would 100% disagree with you.

Ugh Jesus I love your vague calls to authority. Please cite these medical professionals who state the addiction is just a choice and not a disease. Here's the thing...yes the initial ingestion is a choice. But at some point you cross the event horizon and there is no going back. Your brain chemistry has changed. Neuropathways specific to drug use have been built to reinforce the addiction. That is why it is a disease and why simply beating the physical withdrawal phase of abstinence is the easiest part of recovery. The craving that follow due to the fact that your brain has been hijacked is the hardest part

Don't waste your time, educating this board on proven facts is absolutely pointless.
