The details are as follows:
T-Mobile could pay up to $650 per line for you to switch over to their service.
$300 of that comes from trading in your old device. You may or may not see that much, obviously the price is dependent on the device, how old it is, the condition, etc.
The other $350 comes when you get your final bill from your old carrier that shows your Early Termination Fees (ETF). By uploading your bill or mailing it in, T-Mobile will assess it and then mail you the cash for your fees. Again, up to $350.
You have to switch from Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint.
You have to sign-up for a postpaid Simple Choice plan and also buy a device, which can be done for $0 down, but with a monthly payment spread out over 24 months.
If you are an existing T-Mobile customers in an older plan or contract, you can switch as well to a Simple Choice plan without incurring migration charges.

Thanks for the tip. I have Sprint and have been wanting to ditch them b/c their coverage sucks but the ETF fees were keeping me until contract is up in June. I hear T Mobile has been buying Verizon bandwidth to help with their service. Might have to look into this more.

TMo has become a very good carrier over the last year making all the right moves

That's great and all but what adult with a real job wants t-mobile?

If it cost less money and offers a comparable service then why not?

There are reports out there that Sprint will buy T-Mobile.

And how will that work?
AT&T bought T-Mobile and the Department of Justice said they would block it, and AT&T pulled out.

This one right here. No contracts, truly unlimited bandwidth, and pricing that *goes down* once you pay off your phone.

sprint is a much smaller company than att. att acquiring tmo would have just strengthened the verizon/att duopoly which would be bad for consumers. a sprint/tmo merger would create 3 large carriers, which is better for the consumer.
the problem that i see is the different technologies, gsm and cdma. last time sprint acquired a company using a different technology(nextel) it didn't work out so well.

And truly shitty service. At least it was when I had my work phone through them. Was the most horrible range I've ever seen.

How long ago? Service has gotten much better recently. The only time I don't have service now is when I'm visiting my hometown in the weeds now. And I don't mind not having service then.

I've been trying to get out of Tmobile since I moved to NWLA, shittiest coverage ever! I can't wait to leave. Sprint is even superior to Tmobile here. I'm looking at ATT or Verizon once I'm done.

Anybody that needs 2 years to pay off their cell phone probably shouldnt' even have one in the first place.

Sprint doesn't have the same position in the market that AT&T has. Do you know why the DOT blocked it?

My roommate who works at AT&T is doing this. Gonna switch to t mobile so he can get a new phone. Then port his number back to AT&T after a few weeks.

So if I were to switch from AT&T, T-Mobile would pay those fees?
How is T-Mobile's service overall?

I called AT&T yesterday and went to the cancellation dept. I told them about what T-Mobile is doing and asked if they would like to do anything to keep me as a loyal customer. They gave me $15 off per line for 3 months. That totals to $225. Not sure what I was really expecting, but I was happy with it. I wasn't going to switch to T-Mobile anyways, so I guess it's a win.
Free money from a shitty cell phone company doesn't do me too much good when I can't make a call/text.

Truer words have never been spoken. They're probably not in a position to buy it outright because they are still paying off their payday loan.
