Couple things:

1. Drink pickle juice if you can stomach it. Helps with cramping.

2. Drink a protein drink within 30 minutes after working out. Helps with the soreness. I just mix protein powder and water in a shaker. Cheap and easy.

If you are only lifting two or three times a week that is why you continue to be sore. If you lift weights more often eventually the soreness goes away and you just feel the pump after a workout. My brother lifts every day and never gets sore any more (he may just be a freak though, his max bench is currently 455). I don't lift as often as he does but I've gotten to the point where I don't really get sore any more. My muscles get tight and they are fatigued after working out but not really sore the next day. I lift 4 times a week. The only time I really get sore is when I switch up workouts/exercises and I only do that when I start to plateau.

Sounds like you are over doing it on the weight.

Yeah, something is wrong. Slight soreness is normal, but debilitating soreness is not, except after a layoff.

Cold showers after working out can help, but also try cutting back on volume and/or intensity.

you gotta put down the drinks bitch and get some TUDCA liver repair and start taking magnesium, Potassium, and amino acids and triple your dose of fish oil and cod liver oil.

I've been lifting for a couple of years 2-3 times a week and I'm tired of hurting and being sore all the time.

What kind of split are you doing? Hopefully you are not meaning full body weight training 3 times a week. If you are using a decent split, while only lifting 3X a week, and remaining sore, then you have terrible lactic acid issues.

Take ZMA and potassium and see if that helps. Make sure you're getting enough red meat as well.

The only time I'm sore for more than one day, is from legs. Should be healing pretty quick after training for a while.
