I did that with king crab once. Kids even raced them. There never was a repeat performance

The world truly has taken a turn for the surreal

People who project human feelings onto animals, or in this case crustaceans, are some weird arse MFers.

I mean, you're right, but is there a middle ground?

The Swiss are on one extreme with this law, for sure.

But is it totally unreasonable to afford some lower beings some consideration?

Editing to add:
I eat living oysters with gusto and enthusiasm. I'm not PETA, I swear.

Ask yourself that question after missing about 5 or 10 meals, and you won’t give boiling a lobster live a second thought because you’re going to be ripping into that thing with both hands and teeth to sustain your own life.

These silly games we play with our food only works with people who’ve not missed meals and aren’t really in tune with the reality of just who they are, predators. That’s our nature, and lobsters... Well, they’re one of our food sources. Lobsters, don’t fare any better in the wild, nor does anything else for that matter. Boiling them is probably the least painful way for them to die, but you know, I don’t really care. It’s food.

How is throwing redfish/specks in an ice chest to suffocate to death any less inhumane than that

I agree completely. Just think what would happen if you told a bunch of coonasses they had to do this to each crawfish before they threw them in the pot. Whoever tried to enforce that would be the one put in the pot

Get two pots
Get one non-onducting material champagne.
Rinse crawfish good.
Our Crawfish in champagne in rinsing pot.
Hook car battery up to rinsing pot.
Zap Crawfish
Unhook battery
Take out champagne
Dump Crawfish in boiling pot.

Red neck engineered mass Crawfish stunner/electric chair before boiling.

Dropping it in boiling water would stun the frick out of it before it killed it.
