(CNN)Authorities in the Chinese region of Inner Mongolia are on high alert after a suspected case of bubonic plague, the disease that caused the Black Death pandemic, was reported Sunday.
The case was discovered in the city of Bayannur, located northwest of Beijing, according to state-run Xinhua news agency. A hospital alerted municipal authorities of the patient's case on Saturday. By Sunday, local authorities had issued a citywide Level 3 warning for plague prevention, the second lowest in a four-level system. The warning will stay in place until the end of the year, according to Xinhua.

"At present, there is a risk of a human plague epidemic spreading in this city. The public should improve its self-protection awareness and ability, and report abnormal health conditions promptly," the local health authority said, according to state-run newspaper China Daily.

Doesn't India deal with this on a yearly basis?

We have Cooks Pest Control and Talstar P
I know Los Angeles was dealing with this for a while because of the homeless population but it isn't like it's going to spread like a forest fire.

Sounds like a good reason to shut down the economy and have everyone work from home

Plague has a cure
Its only an issue in shithole countries or shithole cities that allow homeless camps

If you people would just wear your damn masks we could solve this problem.

Nah, that was bubonic chronic mixed with a gang of Tanqueray. He recovered when he backed up off of it and sat his cup down

Obviously white people. I think POC are allowed to go maskless as they evidently don't spread the virus

I dig the reference, but nah, that dude died. My BIL works at Opelousas General and was exposed to the guy. BIL and everyone exposed had to take 2 pills everyday for 2 weeks.
It was an old man who essentially lived in a shack in the woods. His dog got the plague and died in his home, he caught it from the dog. By the time he had gotten to the hospital necrosis had set in pretty badly, there wasn't much anyone could do.
We get about 7 cases a year in the US, the plague has never really gone away.
