We most definitely have the death Penalty here in SC and the pos being charged with kidnapping with the murder makes him eligible.

Yeah I have been paying a bit of attention to this story and I have not really dug deep but I was kinda wondering the same thing. As others have noted the initial ambiguity of the suspect leading us to know he was most likely a minority...all I hear is that she was kidnapped, killed, and dumped way out. Nothing is said about any sexual crimes though. Knowing how the media polices information like this, are we not being told of sexual assault parts of the crime and if not, is it for a reason?

Her mother's statement in court this morning was heartbreaking. He was supposed to be there but wasn't. I can only imagine the anger I'd feel towards someone that did something like that to my daughter.
