For those not around then, or in the 80s wheelhouse, it’s hard to overstate how huge Madonna was. And all that fame can take you off the rails later if you’re not grounded with a good upbringing and stable family support. Something Madonna lacked by all accounts.
It’s a story repeated with celebrities over the decades and hard to avoid. It’s a shame because she seemed like the type who could age gracefully if she chose to.
The bangles were a solid band with a few catchy hits, like the Go Gos basically. But Madonna ruled the pop world.

She's the first mainstream case I can think of regarding industry plants in music.
She essentially was a cum dumpster "artist" who fricked a ton of musicians in NYC and was given a record deal out of nowhere because of it.
A modern example of this would be Billie Elish who's brother got her connections with his industry ties and she became an instant star.
