As someone who just had cataract surgery with cataracts my doctor described as "those of someone 20-25 years older" than I am, I heartily disagree. Had I worn sunglasses for the past few decades I likely would not have had cataracts that bad.

I was surprised I didn't get mentioned at all.

No bullshite. One day I forgot my sunglasses in the back of my vehicle. This was in the morning... 7 oclock hour and I was traveling east and the sun was directly in my face. I was on a curvy road and I was about to stop off somewhere I could pull into so I could grab my sunglasses and right before I did, I ran off the road, hit something and my tire went flat, etc.

If I wouldn't have forgot my sunglasses I wouldn't have had a flat tire...

I stopped drinking water a year ago. You definitely don’t need it.

I’ve been addicted to Chapstick for 20+ years. Cannot leave the house without it and if I accidentally do I have to stop and buy some. It’s oppressive. I warned my son against it and now he’s the same way!

I'm the exact same. If I don't have it when I leave the house I freak out and will usually go buy some.

Cool thing, though, is that my dentist has the best chapstick in town so whenever I'm in there I grab 4 or 5 tubes (shoutout Sculpt Dental Spa )

I know a guy from Biloxi that’s a huge conspiracy theorist and has deduced the big sunscreen and big sunglass are in cahoots with big pharma to give us cancer.

His stance is that sunglasses make our body think it isn’t bright outside, thus not producing melanin to keep our skin safe and we require sunscreen, which causes cancer per him.

He also believed at one point and might still believe that the earth is flat

You'll be downvoted to oblivion, but I have never been much of a "sunglasses person" and I can see fine when it is sunny whereas my peers are dying without them.

I honestly have to force myself to remember to put them on.

In fairness, I wear prescription glasses, so switching between the two both in cases in my purse/car is a lot more to do than just throwing shades on.

bullshite.
I spend the majority of my time outdoors and always wear sunglasses. That’s bc I didn’t wear them when I was younger and now have a pinguecula, a yellowish, raised deposit on the white part of the eye.

You joke, but Big Water did a hell of a job convincing America that we are dehydrated on some wide scale.

A massive amount of Americans these days carry big jugs of water on their person at all times and even go as far as preaching about hydration despite the fact that most people obtain adequate hydration from simply drinking when actually thirsty, drinking with meals, and eating foods with water in them (veggies, fruit, etc.).

It was genius at the time, considering it was to get bottled water on the map.

You never need them until you begin using them. They make you dependent. They ruin your eyes.
But your eyes can recover. You can be like a child again running on a beach directly into the sun, completely unbothered.
It's pretty true. Your eyes are designed to provide you with max info about the sun. e.g. you are less likely to get burned if you aren't wearing sunglasses.

Shows what you know. After I had the cataracts removed it months to adjust to sunlight. I needed sunglasses to go outside.

UV light doesn't ruin the headlights on your car either. Just a wild guess
