I once asked a retired guy what he missed most since he was retired. He told me that feeling on Friday afternoon getting off for the weekend. He said once you’re retired, you never get that feeling again.

It’s kinda like I work for myself. I get my shite done then enjoy the rest. Friday could be Monday or it could be Thursday.

I used to work 2 weeks on 2 weeks off on a rig...I can't describe the feeling of your last 30 minutes on Tuesday knowing you don't have to do shite for 2 weeks.

The one thing I miss about being retired is eating a meal with a colleague (or2) during every shift.

That kind of makes sense.

Then again, he never knew the shite feeling of a Monday again either.

Try having a job where you don’t do anything.

Yep, it's a yin and yang type philosophy. Good cannot exist without bad.

Winning only feels good because losing exists and feels bad. If your team won every single time it would get extremely boring fast.

Pulling out of the work parking lot on Friday afternoon is a special sort of simple euphoria that's hard to replicate.
