Mine isn't very much in the summer, but it is ridiculous in the winter and I don't keep the house that warm. I am pretty sure something isn't wired correctly at the thermostat and I am going to have it looked at next winter.

I have a very shitty 1999 house, bad to no insulation, old units, a pool, and a hot tub, and my shite still isn't 560 a month in the summer.

$1,000 a month for electricity and water? You might want to make some adjustments. That is nuts.

You really should have a separate unit for upstairs. I would look into putting a mini-split or portable upstairs. Or even a window unit if its not in the front of your house. Depending on the layout and which 3 rooms you use, there are several options for you to be more efficient.

We have a water well and are just outside city limits so no ciy sewer to pay for so overall my utilities aren't terrible.

Same here....live right by the airport and I love the water well....saves on the water bill for sure.

I just finished building my house last year in February. I built it myself, so I know every detail that went into it. Insulation is the most important factor for electric bills. I work for a utility, and I can't tell you how many times people say, "I keep my AC on 75 or heat on 68, there's no way we used that much electricity". Most homes that aren't custom-built for the homeowner don't have the best insulation, and electric bills suffer in the winter/summer. My home is 2,800 sq feet and my highest electric bill was $180 last winter.

Having unlimited water from a well is the tits. Instead of trying to keep pool water clean I just drain it and refill every few weeks. Way easier and cleaner.

Why does Entergy have an estimator on their website if it is always way off? My bills are at least $30 more than last year with the same usage.. Than there is some added $10 to the bill and the politicians let them have it...

Get a nest or eco bee thermostat. It will "monitor" when you are and aren't home and will try to get the house to desirable temp outside of peak hours, which it will know from linking with your energy provider

There’s usually $30 in Hurricane restoration charges from storms 20 years ago that we still pay for.

I can’t wrap my head around trusting that Entergy isn’t fricking you. I only want to pay for what I use each month.

Almost $300 here. Double the spring months average. I expect it to hit $300 and more based on last summer.
