We should lie.

It will continue to climb sharply in so long as we as a society allow "parents" to mentally abuse their children into changing their gender at pre-pubescent ages. Example: 4 and 8 year olds in California we were discussing last week.

If they can make it to their mid-twenties, maturity hopefully kicks in, instead of being self-absorbed little shits. If life was truly hard for them, they wouldn't have time to think about how miserable they are, and be happy for what they have.

what a nonsensical response
maybe if you are worried about the mental health of todays youth, possibly focus on the things in todays society that are good and only getting better?
also, just because you have a shitty outlook on life, doesn't mean that its the truth
chin up, Mike

Teens think with their amygdala, the emotional part of the brain, while fully developed adult brains think with their pre-frontal cortex which allows for logical thought that takes into account long term consequences.

This is also a good reason to raise the voting age to 25.

You have parents and liberals telling them they can choose whatever gender they want for the day. They are the ones creating the mental health issues of today among children. That nonsense needs to stop.

You really think the increase in suicide rates is because of a very small segment of society?

That’s what you want. Ignore the truth that stares us in the face.

We’re the same human beings we’ve always been. Nothing’s changed, yet mental health is the problem rather than the cause of the mental health issues. Mental health issues are not going to increase out of the blue and just start causing people to start shooting people. There is a reason for this, and it’s not some mental health plague.
I agree, we have a problem with mental health in this country, but it’s the causes of it that is being ignored. When you bring it up, people don’t want to hear it.

No, but observation is a technique you can either master over time or ignore if you so choose to.

OR, I just deal in realities, and the blind hope of youth no longer clouds my vision.

You use the word "truth" too loosely

I agree with this.

Your observations are limited to mostly affirmation, just like the rest of us.
You see what you want to see.

Not only that, but with the lengthening of the "learning phase" of life (i.e. more people in school for longer), complete maturity is delayed until later in life.

I see what I read in the paper growing up to what I read in the very same paper today and it’s confirmed.

its weird
Mike has fallen victim to the same things that are troubling today's youth
but due to being a fully developed adult, he has the emotionally capacity to deal with it

Doubt it has anything to do with God, more like social media, group texts, parents who try to protect them from having any emotion or obstacles in their way and an insane amount of over medication. Coached in high school for the last decade and the transformation of kids just in that time period is astonishing. Zero attention span, walking zombies, constantly need to be within striking distance of their phones. Mostly I blame parents who think they are being good parents by trying to make life as easy as possible for the kids robbing them of learning there is nothing wrong with failure as long as you learn from it and understand it isn’t the end of the world. Putting phones in front of their children at restaurants instead of engaging with them or disciplining them so they will be quiet. It’s not all kids or parents but it is an alarmingly growing number. Leaning on teachers for grades and administrators, leaning on coaches for playing time. If someone never experiences the low of failure they will never experience the high of working towards a goal and reaching it. They become an emotionless robot.

Whether you believe in God or not, organized religion helped young people cope with the outside world and gave them a pathway to understanding their place in the world what society as a whole expected of them. We’ve taken that away from them as a society and replaced it with nothing forcing young people to try and figure it out all by themselves. Then we give them these devices that allow them to connect with a massive world of other children who are as equally incapable of understanding what’s going on around them with little to no adult supervision. It’s an online version of Lord of the Flies with real life consequences that children and teens are incapable of comprehending.

Overly medicated
Lack of coping skills
Digital addiction
Psychological distress is epidemic. Raising soft kids will do that

medicate kids with a belt when they act up. time to go old school. put the meds in the cabinet. it's our fault for molding them into wierdos and wimps.
The internet hasn't helped much either along with the #bullying movement.
