You can't even rent a decent apartment in katy, tx for < $1000 month I think you're being unrealistic

Alright, describe decent. I don't think we are on the same page. Not trying to live there forever, just need 500-750sqft so I don't have to drive 160 miles every day.

Fwiw, found a place off Magazine for 1100 that fits this description. I doubt I bed many women there, but that really isn't my goal.

Driving around would be the method you suggest to find something?

Well a place with a dining room where I wouldn't have to sell my dining room table and wouldn't be embarrassed to have people over

We'll use the inlaws mansion for our dinner parties.

Seriously though, if it were long term my budget would be a lot higher. Just need to be in NOLA to house hunt and be closer to work.

I'd tell you about the rental company I use but their apartments are primarily located in Mid-City and I'm currently on the lookout for new properties they have available so I can move out of my current one.

Any kind of deal you come across (for example, <$1000 Uptown) will be snatched up so quick that you'll likely never see it at all. The demand for housing here is ridiculous. I think we're the new Austin, TX...or something.

Used to Reb. Sold them, part of the seperation agreement with my quasi-ex wife.

OP could look in Mid-City or Lakeview and find something. Or Bayou St John area.

Not cool, bro

Some very respectable strippers and drug dealers live in my hood.

FWIW, I don't pay nearly 1k/month. I'm also planning on moving as soon as July 31st rolls around

Driving around seriously your best and maybe only option at that price point

shite gets snatched up in hours majority of the time. Sometimes minutes.

Housing is booming to say the least

FWIW, the little house next to me is available for rent. It'll be around $700. We could be drinking buddies and make sure if one of us gets killed we can pass the news on to each other's next of kin.

Thanks all for the input. See some stuff on Craigslist that is appealing. Might go up to $1500 just to weigh some better options.

Looks like I'll be at Ave Pub "apt hunting" on my days off.

Do we also get first rights to any cellared beer the other has?
