I agree. Unless you get a full sized van outfitted with comfortable seats, the Suburban is probably the best choice for anyone who needs that much space for 8 adults and the kind of durability that can withstand so many miles in such a short period (which means no minivans).

The Sequoia is awesome....but for 8 adults, the Suburban is probably a better choice. With the problems the OP had with his previous car, he might need to look into a 3/4 ton model. 8 adult passengers and their crap is a lot of payload.

Suburban/Yukon xl will not have really comfortable seating in the 3rd row for adults, especially if they are big

My wifes Acadia seats 7, have only went to 6 so far, but plenty of room for each person, not so much room for luggage for 6.

ETA: sp, also what Chicken said, 3 in the back row of anything is going to be crowded.

Neat conversion, but I'd take the 6.2 gas over the Duramax.

How are blind spots in the sequoia? I had heard that they weren't good

Only blind spots I have noticed happen when cars are approaching from my right. The post holding the windshield is wide at the bottom and can block sight of cars approaching.

I have almost turned in front of a few cars because of it.

I've gone on long trips in a Suburban before with no trouble.....but never with more than two adults in the 3rd row.

Not too many options for vehicles that can seat 8 adults and hold their stuff. Some minivans could, but if the OP had axle and transmission issues with his previous car, he might be under estimating his payload needs......so he might need to aim for a truck-based SUV or diesel full sized van like an Express or Sprinter. They are not fashionable but can be outfitted with comfortable seats.

I'd suggest Suburban or Expedition (the extended length one). Otherwise, may as well get a minivan.

Sounds like he needs a fullsize van.

I'll throw in my 2 cents since i just went through this. The Infiniti QX 80 is what I have. Some people don't like the look of the car but I do.

Fit my criteria of:
Not as big a a suburban (have to park in a garage everyday)
Being able to move 7 people
Have useable storage in the back (tahoe, yukon do not).
Can tow a good size boat (8000lbs)
Can put clients in it

The MB GLs are nice but have service issues and you don't want to own it without a warranty.
Armada is a very old platform that needs to be replaced.
Suburban is not nearly as nice and is a good bit longer, haven't looked at the one that just came out though.
Expedition is an old platform and its a Ford.
I think the Sequoia is ugly as hell and limited storage.
Lexus is nice but the smaller one has no storage and the larger one tows less, has worse mileage, and costs alot more.
The Audi is nice but doesn't have the storage and towing capacity. Also as with all German cars you don't want to own with out a warranty (not that they all break down but when they do its is very expensive).
Didn't consider the BMW X5, too small.

The op says 6+, six is the normal number when we pack it full, but sometimes more than that.

I havent had a chance to drive the newer expeditions/navigator xl's, but its looking like another suburban/Denali xl again. at least they have a new body style and interior

You should check out the Toyota Land Cruiser. Big and reliable with the 5.7 that has tons of pep. Plus IMO much better looking than the sequoia

If you could roll out of them right before they hit a 100K, they'll still bring good money on a trade.

True, but it has an awesome legacy and they're just cool overall. Plus, everyone already has a suburban and he kind of went the opposite route with the MB initially. Just a thought for consideration. That price tag would probably be a deal breaker though
