Is something like camping an option?
There’s also small towns that might fit what you’re looking for. Sometimes it’s nice to go to a smaller town and just explore for a day or two. Something like Natchitoches.

This place, the more I zoom in, looks pretty awesome! It couldn't be between the $500-$600 range though could it?
It's about $300/per night. You can get it for half that if you book with the Military rate (show up with a New Iberia Haircut & explain you forgot your Mil ID if they even ask for it)

Don't really have camping gear...a cabin or hotel will do..looking for things to do with kids aged between 13-1..like I said hiking, beach, fishing, maybe something like hot springs walking downtown..maybe a kids museum close by or a zoo since we love visiting zoos!

We don't have to get wet, just something to relax and maybe watch the kids play in the sand and do some putt putt..
Well that resort is legit for the kid 'fun factor'. They have employees constantly doing activities and hosting games in costumes like Jack Sparrow for example.
Good family fun with a tiki bar close by for mom and dad.

I'm at my condo in Orange beach right now. If it was a little warmer it would be perfect

This post became funny after you changed military haircut to new Iberia haircut..wasn't as quick as your first post though!

What's impressive is that he put that together within 1 minute of your post.
Part of me thinks he works for Marriott with such a descriptive post in under two minutes. Like stock photos and captions. Ha
Plus, much like these type of services, it in no way fulfilled the OP parameters. 6 hour drive to San Antonio? $500-$600 for a wkend with wife and kids?

My nephews enjoyed doing just that. They had a ball.
What time of year are you people going? I’ve been twice and it was packed both times. All these pictures look like you have the place to yourselves.

it was back in August during the week, after school started back for most folks. I guess we just got lucky.

Springhill, LA has the northernmost Sonic in the state. It's right on the Arkansas line. I've been wanting to get up there for several years but life gets in the way. Anyway, I think it would be a fun excursion.
Remember to get your shots.

I may rent a convertible for the 4th of July and head up there.

May have narrowed it down to gulf shores and stay on the beach and go to the Alabama gulf coast zoo and play some mini golf..any hotel recommendations on that strip of beach around hwy 182 and hwy 59?

cabin area with a lake to fish and hike?
Mountain Harbor resort on Lake Ouchita in Arkansas. You can rent a cabin or condo. Very beautiful scenery, has a spa, horseback riding, hiking, huge marina with scuba rentals, ski or fishing boat rentals, an excellent restaurant at the lodge right up the hill from the marina. Also 30 minute drive to hot springs. Depending on what all you do, might cost a little more than 600 if you rent a full cabin. The lodge has hotel rooms though that are fairly cheap. You can rent a bass boat for about 250 a day I think. They also have campsites if you prefer that route
