The smell when the heat gets clicked on for the first couple times of the season.
This is a good one.

That first pot of chili with the first legit cold front. Kicking off soup & stew season. Get in!

Official Fall starts on September 23.
Favorite day of Fall is when that first cold front blows through and temps drop 20+ degrees in less than hour. Seems a long way off right now.

Neighborhood kids coming over when we make a fire in the fire pit, breaking out the hot dogs and smore stuff. Don't even have to announce it, just start the fire and they show up, like mosquitoes.
Playing Kubb.
Catching crappie from the bank on their Fall false-spawn.
Cinnamon broom that makes you sneeze for 48 hours but then smells good for two months.
Fall fests, we have some good ones around here. Ferris wheels, corn maze, pig races, etc. Live music, beer, pumpkin patches, etc.

Having the windows open with a breeze and hearing a train pass in the distance

Making fun of Clemson fans who don't see it coming is nice, but cool weather wahoo fishing is the tits.

At my old place the cypress trees across the lake would lose their green first. It was beautiful seeing that across the lake.

Cooking the first gumbo with the back door open and the cool air blowing in from outside.

About to experience my first Fall in Minneapolis. I'm pretty excited to actually see leaves change and whatnot.
What I will not miss is my Sycamore tree at my house in LA shitting all over my yard for 2 months.

Lower sun angle and longer shadows during the day. It’s way more pleasing than scorching overhead sun during the summer doldrums.

The angle to the light coming through the trees in the morning. And it happens regardless of the temp. Should start seeing it soon. Means we are getting to the good part of the year.

No more conservation / power blackout warnings from Texas' ERCOT from early fall until our first winter freeze, when all hell breaks loose.

When I'm taking those last swims in September and the sun is just a little less brutal and the smell of the chemicals released from the leaves as they change color.

Right around Thanksgiving, yes?
