Saw this subdivision while traveling on US 331 around Defuniak Springs, FL today.

I lolled because I am still a 12 year-old and the term “Owl’s Head” is oxymoronic.

Subtle “I vacation on 30A” brag.

I wish.

I was at work.

I can see a lot from my vantage point.

Upvote for the Sprangs reference. There is a solid burger place there called Ed’s restaurant.

Back then, Arnold Palmer was hired to design a signature course for the development.

Now it’s a DH Horton tract paradise.

Does anyone know why the hell there are 3 of the same gas stations on 3 of the 4 corners right after you get off of the interstate. I think the are all Big Boss convenience stores too. I understand maybe opposite sides of the road so you can get them coming and going, but there are two on the same side separated only by a McDonalds.

I’m curious to know how owls head is an oxymoron. I think maybe OP doesn’t know what that means.

Also something about the OWL’S is bothering me. Kerning is off or something…

Wasn’t that subdivision supposed to include an Arnold Palmer course?

It’s not oxymoronic.
It used to be agricultural fields with the giant, wheeled sprinklers.
The development has been in the works since 331 was two lanes from I 10 to Freeport.
The old roadway used to go west then south to Freeport just about where Owl’s Head is.
There used to be cotton and shade tobacco grown around there.
Overrun with tourists and overpriced homes in South Walton County now due to the beautiful beaches and coastal shoreline that attracted them in the first place, but now they just get stuck in traffic.
If Hurricane Michael had hit there instead of Mexico Beach, Seaside would be toothpicks.
