Have been paying back a student loan and got 1 of 2 payed off recently. I was $68 a month. Once the first part of the consolidation was payed off, they lowered my payments to $48. I changed it online on 3 separate occasions back to the $68. They kept charging me $48. I called in and spoke with someone, they corrected it and it was suppose to be corrected for this month. It wasn't. I feel like they are purposively ignoring my request so that they can continue to collect on my interest. Thoughts? Opinions?

You can pay extra without having them change the set monthly payment.

Most interest is paid at the beginning of the payments. Don't be a bitch, write a check for the balance.

I know. It's just a hassle to log in every month and put the extra $20 payment when they "offer" it as an option to have it set to a monthly payment

Teacher. If I did that, it would be half of my yearly salary haha

What is your process like?

For me, it is as simple as clicking the check box next to "Pay Other Amount" and typing it in.

It is that simple and yes I'm that lazy haha. It's just aggravating that they give you an option to set your monthly direct debit but it doesn't work or they don't allow it to work.

Teacher.....so that should answer your question haha. Hey at least I get to coach and make a LARGE 4% of my salary to spend hours upon hours upon hours after school and many nights away from home haha. Not bitching because I love coaching kids and I know the OT's love of teachers haha.

Pay the minimum. It will eventually all be forgiven. The only people that will be screwed are those that actually paid theirs off. The American way!

Probably incompetence more so than a plot to charge more interest, but frustrating nonetheless.
