It's pretty common for people caught up in these types of events to misremember important facts and/or think things happened like a 2nd shooter/hearing other shots.

She could also misremember when she did/didn't hear shots, and in that moment did not hear shots but remembers as she did. That's pretty standard and normal for these events.
