If you can’t step onto the bumper to get into your truckbed...don’t buy a friggin truck. This shite is getting ridiculous.

The real shock in that ad is that just 10 years ago MSRP was 20k.
That was the "starting" price for trucks back then...you sometimes still see low starting prices like that, but that is for a stripped down, single cap work truck with no options...not many folks would want to drive such a truck. I think the normal sticker price for a reasonable truck started at about $30K back then.

The bumper step is both more simple and easier to use.
Agreed. That is the only thing I miss about a Chevy.

That's what's crazy...
In '06, we bought a certified pre-owned '06 Tahoe with 9k miles on it, LT 4WD for 28k... Today that same Tahoe would cost you 42k.

I bought a Ram super crew SLT in 09 and it was a tad under 30. I bought a similarly equipped F150 in 2017 for 32.

I have an aluminum f250. Can confirm that aluminum sucks arse for truck body material. Bed looks like it's a 20 year old contractor truck. Sides already scratched up all over the place. Have to be careful about how you bolt things to the bed due to galvanic corrosion. It's horrible. Mine is 6 months old and looks 10 years old.

Honestly the Ford step looks sketchy when you consider the person using it is probably using it because their footing and mobility isn’t great to begin with. Wet shoes and the foot slips through and it’s snap city to that tibia.

Apparently you don’t use a truck for it’s actual purpose. When I’m loading and unloading it makes it a shitload easier.
I'm tall enough to ride roller coasters.

Weren't you the poster that had the F250 Powerstroke that imploded a couple of years back?
You bought another one after that?

The only time I've used my step down tailgate is when I show people that I have a step down tailgate

They should spend less on advertising and more on reliable autos

I have the same truck and mine is over a year old and still looks brand new. Sounds like you are tough on your truck. This is my first aluminum truck and it really hasn’t worn any different than my other ones.

Just watch out for those car washes.

And those Camaros

That's even more than most owners use them.

Had a Chevy with bumper steps and really liked the feature, but in a 3/4 or 1 ton they are just about useless. Way too high.
Now I used to think the ford step was for old men until I got my f250 then I realized how nice they are...a couple of seconds to set up, a couple of seconds to stow. If tailgate is up I just step on bumper at the license plate.
Whoever said they almost never get all the way in the bed and don’t see why people do is the reason trucks cost so much. Getting a truck just to be “cool”.

I have a 2017 F250 also. Mine is dirty because of all the rain but looks brand new when clean. I use it like a truck but don’t abuse it. Other than getting it stuck in a hayfield the other day I have zero complaints. They cost too much to tear up.

I've had my F150 3 years now, and I have used my step about once per year. I would probably prefer the bumper step.

Bumper step is the clear solution. The problem is that their trucks are getting unnecessarily high off the ground.
I do like the step side right behind the cab.
