I am about 30 miles to the west of the 'center' and the barometer has reached 994 millibars - just 2 less than the reported lowest pressure. This storm obviously is very broad.

Dude that sucks. Owner of the car’s family owns the Shell station behind Harrah’s. He is always there with it parked outside. Damn near lives there. Good fella. Pulled over to stop in and bullshite with him about the car a couple years ago. He was willing to sell it but it needed a bit of work. It was a pretty blue then. He was asking a little more than I was willing to spend for a rotary engine project. Looks like he didn’t sell it and started to fix it up himself like he said he would. Shame.

Could make for a good LS project now.

As long as you don’t have to cross the I-10 bridge, you should be fine.

You read enough on this board to know that even at 3 am that bridge can be a mess in BTR.

Just like the mayor of New Orleans and JBE creating sensationalism on TV other day saying it could drop upwards of 15-20 inches in areas of Louisiana? Doing whatever he can to take that handout from Trump.

Drive from BTR to Bama stateliness was a bit of a chore from 3-7pm.

Take your time if driving.

The mayor of Grand Isle is on TV begging for money.

He really is not, he is just trying to get the bureaucrats to truly fix the island.

There are spots on the island that are very sound mainly on the eastern and central end that are protected by breakwaters. The western end is like a sugar cube in a cup of coffee, melting away into the gulf.

After every storm, USACE instead of resolving the issue of erosion by adding breakwaters or solid structures, they spend millions on repairing the beach earthen levee with more sand and clay.

Now, I am interested in how much of a beating Terrebonne’s uninhabited barrier islands faired.

That is another place where the state, Feds, and BP fine money has been dumped on the coast only to be washed away by events like this.

Who needs FEMA money?

We have been getting hammered here in the Bay. I'm actually surprised at the wind this afternoon.
