What a shite show. Now I gotta spend all day getting the plant back online. Probably have to sleep here again tomorrow. I doubt they get the roads clear from vacherie to thib. I just want to see the house.

That amazes me how it held intensity. shite it was still a Cat4 when it hit St Charles Parish.

It didn't make a meaningful "landfall" until it was on top of Houma. Then when they come in strengthening like that, it takes longer for them to spin down.
Big picture, really getting sick of these waves that don't bother spinning up until the Western Caribbean.
And with that, goodnight. I'm not looking forward to what the sunlight shows us tomorrow.

All I see are jerkoffs who don’t live here criticizing us choosing to live here and arguing over domed home construction in the comments.

Next time there's a hurricane coming to Florida, I'm gonna see about sheltering in a place w/ a herd of cattle around it.
Also, what's amazing to me is that it seems like there was really no problem at all w/ a storm surge there.

Yeah they did the same when I was watching videos from Sally last year. Most people are idiots.

AT&T sucks. Have a work phone that became my personal phone but it was under a 2-year contract I assumed. It runs out next month and I’m switching to Verizon. I’ve always had Verizon for personal service and never had issues in a storm. My kid’s Verizon phone is my WiFi hot spot at the moment.

AT&T has some explaining to do.
Work phone AT&T is dead and personal is fine Verizon.
AT&T’ depends too much on batteries and portable generators.
Verizon (old Mobiletel Backbone in Houma Thibodaux) has generators.

Guys, I apologize if this is stupid, but every radar image I’ve seen has wiped out the western side of the storm. I don’t think this is possible. I’ve gone to numerous sites, and they are only showing the Eastern side of the storm. I know this is bullshite, all of y’all are struggling

The radars may be showing rain.
I’m in BR (southwest side of storm). Outside I still feel some winds but not bad. It’s isn’t really raining but it just feels like a fine mist coming down.

I woke up to mess with my generator and I see lights in downtown New Orleans.
ETA: is it possible these are battery operated lights for planes?

I would rather live on the Gulf Coast and rebuild every 20 years over living the boring shitty landlocked lifestyle

I am in Killian - Tickfaw Broadmoor, it was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Lost roofing, got a leak, two boats broke loose, trees down, debris everywhere and it will be worse when I see everything in daylight.
Storm surge came in fast and flooded out four of my neighbors trucks. I moved mine. Flood stage is four feet and we are currently at 7.13. Hoping the storm will push the water out soon, and it doesn’t go higher. Winds are still gusting here and I’m grateful for these storm shutters.
My Mama always told me how horrible Betsy was. I believe this was “Our” Betsy.
