FWIW, Harvey was a different type of monster. It was a Tropical Storm that sat over the top of Houston for 4 days. To put this into perspective, in Nederland, TX (NorthEast of HTown) it rained 60.5 inches in a 3.5 day period. Which is/was a US rainfall record. This ain’t Harvey.

It went from an Invest on Tuesday to a Cat 4 three days later.

That escatlated extremely fast.

Preparation isn't a 3-7 day task. It's years of planning, testing, and improving. It sounds like a lot of local officials didn't do shite for a decade.

Is there anyone who hunkered down in Mandeville on here? I'm hearing the roof of the Roquette lodge blew off, it must be getting pretty hairy on the NS.

How bad is it for NOLA? I’m guessing nowhere near Katrina but is there a lot of flooding?

I’m in Covington. It’s been a bit squirrelly over here for the past couple of hours. No power. Lots of trees down.

This is hurricane season.
But, how much time is typically allotted?
At best, you may get a week to prepare.
They knew MORE than three days out that the area was forecast to be hit.
Further, you can't wait til a storm is predicted to start preparing, this should have been done much longer ago,
