No chance this turns into a Katrina level event in N.O. right?

Really horrible flooding here in LaPlace, LA at 6pm. Pressure down to 982.2mb. Now trapped by the floodwaters at the Motel 6 but safe and have high ground. #lawx #wxtwitter #HurricaneIda @spann

I warned about this. Looks like surge from the SW part of the Lake like they saw from Isaac.

Last 5 minutes have been the worst all day. Gusts feel like they are lasting a little longer each time.

#Ida's outer eyewall (which now looks a lot more like a primary rainband but that's less important for those in the path) is now advancing into #NOLA.

The airport a bit west of town got into this band first and saw winds jump from 43 gusting 64 at 4PM CDT to 56 gusting 83 at 6PM LINK

They have a whole home generator…hopefully loss of electricity is ultimately Kenner’s biggest issue

Makes me fricking nervous to see these reports

Concerned about how much water will test the levees on the north side of NOLA if it continues on a northeast track. Not sure how much surge it has pushed into Lake P, being it wasn't a huge storm and hadn't been Cat 4 for a long time, but all the water the winds from the southeast pushed towards the north shore will then get pushed west then south and eventually southeast. Lakeview pump still down?

Just had the strongest gusts we’ve had all day here. Not sure of their numbers but it was a lot higher than gusts were 15 minutes ago. Wind was coming straight from the north, now coming from the NE and E. Storm is getting closer but it looks like we’re gonna be on the west eye wall

Looks like I’m about to get blasted in Hammond. Thought we were going to skirt by but the turn now doesn’t do me any favors.

As long as the levees hold, no.

Might be more wind damage, though.

This hurricane is sick. Feel so bad for the whole south east. Sitting in BR at 6PM, still not knowing what will happen in couple of hours.

I'm done with hurricanes
