After Laura it looked/seemed like it would be months until I had power back where I was simply due to the pure destruction. Two weeks later, had power.

Mine was out over a month.

Everything from lack of evacuation to lack of recon for this hurricane is baffling. It's like Covid has killed any ability for us to focus on anything else as a society. We're gonna have a cat 4 come onshore in SE Louisiana and the preparation for it almost feels laid back.

The whole country is this way. Nobody wants to work, it’s like everyone is just in a zombie mode and doesn’t give a shite anymore. Lowest morale I’ve ever seen in this country.

If this thing gets to Cat 4 and hits Nola there will be deaths due to lack of preparation.

The last plane to take off for recon from Florida flew through Ida and went to Nora in the Pacific.

Covid is the only thing that can kill you so no surprise the government isn't worried about people dying from Ida.

Is there a good book or online resource I could use to learn a little bit about hurricane tracking? I don't need a meteorology degree, just want to know a little bit more

All kinds of stuff here if you look around.

14 or 15 days for me. I heard it was because I am on the same grid as a hospital.

Just go to Chalmette or something. Seriously.

Yall, they could not have called a mandatory evacuation in time. It takes 48+ hours to set that up, contraflow takes longer. The news said there was no way to get it done safely in time once the tracks and intensity forecasts called for it.

Im not fan of the government in general, but Im not sure there was anything to do with what Ive read

to get it done, they would have had to put everything in motion before this storm was even a depression

David Bernard with "It's going to happen" key point.

I guess he knows there are hardheads that will be in denial until they are up to their neck in water.

My guess is like everywhere else the NHC is short on employees and probably has very few hurricane hunter pilots to deploy

Yea, I don't know how or why I got mine back so fast. I did feed the electric & cable contractors pizza and Powerade everyday. Maybe that was the ticket
