If you have a generator, you should be able to hook up and run both the microwave and those small toaster ovens you can plug into the wall. Those small hiking stoves are nice to have as well.

That's about the best anyone further north can hope for at this point. The coastal communities are going to get walloped hard if a Cat 4 or even a high end 3 hold together.

To cook w/o power

Dig a pit in the back yard, make a fire in the bottom of it, as the wood catches, put a big cast iron pot on top of it with all the makings of soup.vPut the top on the kettle.
Cover the sides with dirt and if you have stones put them on top. Come back in three or four hours. Dig it up.

Then replenish the fire, put stones in that fire, and make the next batch of soup.

Do you have a well or dependable city water? Now would be a good time to freeze meat in your freezer INSIDE blocks of ice, and pack that freezer with other large blocks of ice. Repack the freezer in order of possible use so you don't waste cool looking for that one package of filet mignons you'd been planning to eat for a special occasion.

I don’t know if we’ll ever see any hurricane hold up like Laura did a Cat 1 all the way to Shreveport was insane.

I really don’t see anything that can stop it’s development. Yes there may be some shear from the SW but the waters are really warm and the high pressure to the East doesn’t seem to be affecting it….. unless it goes through an eye recycle stage.
