I don’t think it’s a bad idea odds are you will use it not just for this storm but for future storms too. That’s would be a bad investment living in South Louisiana

Unless you want to be absolutely miserable then you better get something or stay at someone who has a house generator. Depending on the path you might be weeks without power it's hard to know for sure without surveying the damage. It's probably going to be a major at landfall and likely a strengthening one at that so it's going to sting all of SE LA and especially BR on some of these tracks.

Damn over on stormcast Zach called the latest GFS run a worst case track for the entire area. 951 mb ahead of landfall

i am able to run a 8k btu roll around unit (6k after inefficiencies) on a 2000w craftsman inverter generator, it hits it pretty hard on starting but runs fine after it gets started so i would just not let it cycle, i engineered and built a soft starter for it so now it gets going without a hitch

If that track happened I might be leaving for a while.

The NHC knows
Going to be within 50 miles of current track
Nola might have a chance to escape the worse but for BR it does not look good

If the intensity and size are correct
If it’s a large major going over marsh island that’s still going to nail Houma area pretty hard

Is a Honda generator worth it if I can find one?
Our Honda generator cranked on the first pull then ran for nine days straight after Laura. Took it back to the dealer afterward for servicing and all it needed was an oil change.

Why is Duke awake at this time?
The daughter has decided she must burp before sleeping but cannot figure out how to do it.
So the 00z models did very little to change the idea of a major hurricane into SELA late Sunday/Early monday with a storm intensifying into landfall.

I bought the WEN inverter generator that the OB found a few months ago for $385.
I just need it for my fridge during the day and my 10,000 BTU window unit at night.

So what's this looking like now for Lafayette?

ETD b/c my late-night, slightly-inebriated self found that redacted section more amusing than it actually was. My apologies. Carry on.

I know most people don't but you are supposed to crank it up and let it run for a little while every month. I got one in February for snowpocalypse and read the manual. Power never went off thank God. That reminds me I need to fire it up tomorrow. Been a couple of months. I live in TN btw.

Have oil and a couple spark plugs for it as well.

You didn’t say anything that wasn’t accurate. Maybe it didn’t belong in a weather thread but something tells me that doesn’t matter. Shame you can’t speak truths without offending or feeling guilty.
