Power is on in Kenner in Chateau
Posted on 9/3/21 at 12:39 am to Tex Longhorn
Finally returned home. My place (near Haydel's on Jefferson Highway) was one of the last to get power back after Zeta, but had power restored Wednesday night. Probably need a new roof, which will take forever and cost me a shitload, but whatever. I think that I patched it up well enough to stop leaking.
Before returning today, I hit up Brookhaven MS for gas and groceries. I feel bad for the people in that area. Ida had little effect on the area, but they're getting swamped with Louisiana folk buying up their gas and groceries. I had a short wait for gas because I ventured away from the interstate, but Walmart was a shitshow and will pretty much be cleaned out within a day or two. Sort of felt bad stocking up there, but at least they're getting a nice infusion of out of town cash.
I'm in Amite pretty frequently, and Brookhaven is about an hour away. I'll make sure to hit up some local restaurants sometime soon. Serio's Pizza looks delicious.

That is shocking. Kenner looked rough when I visited yesterday. Where in Chateau?
ETA: I see it’s up on the outage map but Entergy communicated its not to be trusted.

Generally, greens means a route to get power there, but damages from street to home may still exist.
In my case, after more than a month, everyone was green around me. Pole at northwest corner of my property snapped at base, debris prevented change. Debris removal wouldn’t touch because of power, power wouldn’t touch because of debris.

Kenner is really bad, but the power is on of Vintage and in Chateau..was very surprised also

Duke or Rd, no 91L thread? Looks like all of the models now pick up on it. Looks like strong upper level winds will keep it in check but still a potential high rain type of system. shite we definitely don't need either.

Well. I’ve had a stay of execution. I’ve had places fo stay out of town every day until tomorrow. Can’t find anything acceptable (with pets) so I’m heading home tomorrow.
I am not looking forward to it at all. I am blessed that my house seems to be mostly alright, though.
Gonna be joining you baws in the powerless, gasless world.

It freaking sucks. I've spent the last two days here in Terrebonne and Lafourche. I'm back in Terrebonne today helping people put tarps on their roofs. The heat is unbearable and yesterday I'm pretty sure I was on the verge of heat exhaustion. I wouldn't wish this shite on anyone. Take care man.

Let's give it a few runs and see if all that activity stays or goes.

A couple of days ago, Slow asked about possible storms. I mentioned one that spawned off the coast of Sierra Leone that looked like it was building and got DV'd like I kicked a dog.
Anyone looked at what has made it halfway to Haiti yet? It's quite large.

Friend works in a financial area for Entergy .. project lead financial so not sure what it's really called.
I asked her yesterday how it's coming and she said slow. They're having big issues finding lodging for their crews as well as out of state crews .. said that their normal sources for trailer type rentals are tapped out as they're being used to house ILLEGALS from south of the border.
they closest lodging is an hour away ... between travel time and the fuel situation, it's a cluster.
I can't imagine these guys sleeping in their trucks.

These lineman are baw’s baws. They’ll sleep on the fricking ground if necessary. These types of guys are what makes America great but totally forgotten about in our current administration.

Oh I know ... but I still couldn't imagine I guess doing it myself. I feel a little guilty going to bed in MY bed with a/c, ceiling fan AND another oscillating fan.

I have a buddy who is helping out with the sleeping arrangements for these guys down south. Pretty impressive. They brought in ships with large sleeping quarters as well as large ac tents.

If you're talking about Larry, unless you're on Bermuda you likely have nothing to worry about. It should be a fish storm.

It's tracking NW and then back into the Atlantic? You sure about that?
Posted on 9/3/21 at 10:33 am to Sao

Larry should be a Major tomorrow and will likely look really pretty on radar.. unless you are in Bermuda or have property there..

I think Sao is talking about the 0% in the lower left.
There is still a small chance of formation if it can make it to the Bay of Campeche.. not likely at this point.
I wish we had a tropics board here.
Seems like it would be appropriate as we have Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia & South Carolina.. 99% or all US storms go to one of those states.
