There was a recon mission this afternoon that let out a bunch of drops and the red spike is them being ingested by the 00z GFS run.
Does that mean it's getting stronger? the beast is feeding?

00z GFS is still a very weak sheared system but this is a huge change from the past runs of nothing. It will be interesting to see what the other models do overnight.

No, there was just a special batch of data available for the 00z models.

Does the speed a system move through favorable waters affect either way the odds of said storm strengthening? Does more time in conditions mean more opportunity for gains? Seems like these models past 36 hrs have slowed system down over gulf

i know it will change a lot between now and then but what is alarming seems to be weak steering when it gets here, it does not have it moving much for a day

Can you update this in the AM please

99L is either going to be really really bad or absolutely nothing. I don't think there any in between. Better pray it doesn't get into the GOM

Ryan has been very coy this whole time about this system and then just posted this:

GFS 00z now takes weak surface low #Invest99L into Gulf of Mexico ... the game is afoot.

Still has a TS sitting just offshore of the Landmass at D7 and then eventually moves it back to the SE towards Tampa by D10.

That Canadian run you posted is too far east, no way there is a 3rd system:

Are you saying the system in the atlantic is pulling 99l eastward, similar to the gfs run earlier that showed the phantom storm in the west atlantic pulling her west?
Posted on 8/25/16 at 11:49 pm to GEAUXmedic
GFS has our next system entering the picture in the very very very long range

new wave, ends up going up the east coast.. but this is so far in the future it likely will never exist

now gonna wait for the euro, the way the models been handling this wave i can see the euro dropping it tonight just to confuse us even more.
