We got a foot in West Central Georgia.

That was a Saturday. My dad(RIP) was raising my sister and me by himself then and he had to go into work due to the storm. He worked at Coke World HQ in Midtown Atlanta for a contractor on their cooking equipment and his office was below the main kitchen downstairs(In the back of the mechanical room).

We got up early that morning b/c we couldn't find anyone to watch us on short notice. So we went to work w/Dad. When we left the house,(35 miles south of Atlanta), it was sleeting. By the time we had reached the 675 split on I-75, it had all changed over to snow. We made it into the city and into Coke. Long story short, we ended up spending the night in a conference room on the 12th floor of the North Avenue Tower basically snowed in. I got up in the morning and looked out the window into the courtyard and it was beautiful. 10" of fresh snow. And the city was deserted.

I remember being huddled in the living room with my parents by the fireplace, cooking bacon and eggs in an iron skillet over the fire, and praying my little sister wasn't born then and there. I think it hit March 12th and she was born the 23rd. A week past her due date.

Shut down ole miss for a week. I pulled into the Chevron that sold the famous chicken on a stick as heavy snow was falling when the front was coming through and bought a few cases of beer. We thought it was a good idea to "sled" down the hills in the cemetery, and the bars never closed.

My liver still has PTSD from that week.

1993 snowstorm was one of the best childhood memories.

Mine as well. I was 11 and we received 48 inches of blizzard snow in Southern WV. I stayed outside almost all day during the storm. What made it more exciting is knowing school would be canceled for a week.

In North Alabama, we went without power for 7 or 8 days. A tree branch broke because of the ice & fell through the sunroof of Miss UNA's car breaking her neck & killing her, but miraculously they brought her back to life at the hospital. Later she was featured on an episode of the Oprah Winfrey show.

Personally, that's probably the greatest week of my childhood. Every kid in the neighborhood spent a week sledding & riding on 4 wheelers.

Yep. I remember my grandmother staying with us because we had a wood heater at the time. She cooked breakfast every morning on that wood stove. It wasn't a cookstove, but she made it work.
