You live downtown Babo? I live near Hampton Park and we were under 3 feet of water last year during that storm. Anything on the outer edges of the peninsula will be swamped. We've been running flooding models in our hazards lab all day and with the current saturation of the soil and river levels it's not going to be good. Thankfully it won't be a king tide though.. Stay safe man.

James Island one block away from tidal marsh. During last year's flood still had many feet to go before things even got close. Been through many hurricanes as a kid in NOLA but more worried now since I own a house haha.

Downtown will probably not be pretty if this keeps going west.

It looks like Matthew is moving NNE currently on the Visible Imagery. Thought this wasn't supposed to happen until Wednesday??

Big powerful storm is going to meander. Don't bother watching the wobbles, it's the trend over hours.

It's worth asking about.

Looks like we have an eyewall replacement cycle going on based on this microwave image. Probably why the eye seems to be obscured on sat right now.

I live in N Charleston currently, but not far off the Ashley River. I likely won't be in town when this swings by us, that is if I'm able to get to Gainesville on Friday.

Recon in there now. Had a pressure reading of 935 mb. Devastating for Haiti, who is no stranger to disasters.

That looks like it is booking it out of the Carolinas, yeah? Seems pretty good to me.

God please let this be the case. We lost our beach house right outside of Charleston when Hugo hit. And we got lucky with that one..weakened to a 4 right before landfall but still wrecked shite here.

We've been dodging major bullets since Hugo and I'm hoping like hell that trend continues and Matthew spares SC.

Georgia's coast has to be the safest place in all the South with regards to hurricanes.

Truth. They're tucked in all safe and sound under us. Gonna get our asses whooped by 'em in football and in hurricane landfalls this year. FML.

This is going to be unimaginably bad for Haiti, some of the casualty numbers discussed today...

Wind field appears to be spreading out, unless I'm just not seeing that graphic right.

Terrible for Haiti.

My parents live in Port orange West of Daytona in a modular home. Any advice with regard to evacuating or not?

I know Charleston Southern has had their game rescheduled. If it comes in near Charleston or anywhere close to there, I imagine our game will be either rescheduled or played in Athens.

They'll need all the hotel rooms they can get inland for evacuees. And truthfully, by air Charleston is not really that large of a distance from Cola. Huge storm like that is gonna tear some shite up in Cola as well.

I wouldn't plan to evacuate now, but keep the option open and keep an eye. If you are worried about wind damage then you would probably have to get a close to direct hit to want to evacuate. If you live on the beach in Port Orange that's a different story. right now it's not supposed to get close enough to have that much of an effect but I would definitely keep an ion it and pay attention to your local authorities.
