Recon found 133 MPH winds in the northeastern eye wall. Doesn't seem to be showing signs of weakening or even leveling off despite looking a little less impressive on satellite lately.

Not a single Gainesville officer will be 70 miles away from their duties at the beach.

Yeah I know just poking a little fun at an LSU fan in the area.

Boarded up and ready to go. About 20 miles west of Oak Hill (that's a little north of NASA) so we'll probably get a nice little storm here.

Stay safe everyone who's in the path.

They don't do any track updates at the intermediate updates. Won't have a track update from the NHC until the 11 AM advisory.

Sorry haven't really kept up with the thread the Internet on this cruise ship is trash. 1) how is it looking for Miami beach right now 2) were coming back now scheduled to dock Saturday in port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, is the ride about to get super nasty for us these next 48 hours or is it generally calm behind the hurricane bc they said were still on course.

The worst of the weather will be well beyond Fort Lauderdale by Saturday.

The good news at the moment is that the storm continues to struggle to build on the west side, at least relative to the east side. If that trend continues it will help minimize inland damages, but the coast is still going to be an issue.

We followed a hurricane into Bermuda on a cruise in 1989 and it was calm as could be. We arrived the day after the hurricane hit.

Packed and almost ready to leave.

Deciding after the 11am update.

Looks like we are leaving as of right now. Targeting a 1pm departure

I'm sitting in Palm City, FL, just waiting to make the decision for myself at 11 like y'all. Family is safe.

For those of you waiting for the later updates, what would sway you to leave if you don't mind me asking? Intensity? Track? Both?

Thats a pretty big range. Lets hope for the lower end of that. A Cat 5 would be devastating and cause mass panic.

Probably better to head out now and then come back if 11 update is favorable. Sounds like everyone will be leaving at same time if 11 update is ominous. Everything will be gridlocked.

All of you be safe and make smart decisions. Err on the side of caution.
