This may teach a lot of businesses how efficient they can really be.

Next it will be closed every other day, then open one day in 3. They're softening the blow for when they close altogether and stay closed.

I had incredible customer service yesterday at the Walmart neighborhood market. First the cashier didn't card me for all the booze, which is always a hassle. She was zapping everything really fast, and there was another person bagging all my stuff and putting it in an empty waiting cart. Then when I got out to my car there was a guy that helped me load my stuff and took my cart for me. It was pouring rain and I had to park really far away so this was a nice surprise. Made me wish they did that stuff all the time, I might go there more than I already do.

They only did all this to maximize profit. When the hysteria dies down it will return to you: scanning your own shite, waiting for the one employee "working" the entire self check out to authorize your alcohol purchase, getting hassled by the door checker and dodging the dozens of carts in the parking lot.

The machine of Walmart will squash you beneath its behemoth wheels.

Kroger said they needed the limited hours so they could restock their shelves. Due to the increased traffic, their night crew was unable to spend their time stocking the store.

It’s creating mass hysteria in the morning. HEB’s parking lot looked like the day before Thanksgiving, at 8:00 this morning, when they opened.

Walmart is a local business for me so I don't mind it. I realize that's selfish but it's just the truth, they fund a lot of things that benefit our community and most people love them for it. Even hipsters like them around here because they build art museums and theaters, and they have an amphitheater that gets big names. I'm going to Steely Dan and Phish there this year. If that's the price of Walmart controlling retail then so be it.

Restocking, but also to "properly" sanitize. Winn Dixie or Rouse's, I can't remember which, said they need to clean shelves and carts. I don't know if that's true, but they'll be paying people when the stores are closed.
