Trying to help my teenager out. He wants a trailer and a zero turn lawn mower to grow his business. I can't store that stuff at my house. Does anyone know of a storage facility I could look into. Live in 70810

online doesn't really help

Rent a 10x15 storage unit and buy a trailer dolly to manuver the trailer into the unit.

Call a boat storage or RV storage place. When I was in college, we kept a small john boat/RV at a storage place off oneal near interstate since we did not have room at the house. Easy to get in and out with a trailer

Park it in your front yard. Chain it to the mailbox.

I use the Storage Center on airline in Prairieville. Seems clean and works for what it is.

Do like my dad does and just leave it on the curb with the wheels locked. Then when someone in the neighborhood bitches, just roll the trailer on to the lawn next to the road for a while with pride.

That trailer caused at least one neighbor to move that I know of.

Why not spend the money on an enclosed cargo trailer and park it in the driveway? That’s seems more financially sustainable than renting storage space

Check prices at the older non climate controlled storage units. Be sure to ask if they require you to buy their insurance coverage. I needed storage for about 2 months for some items. Online the price was the lowest in town. Not so much when they required me to buy their insurance and pay a monthly insurance premium.

While not legally required by law, almost all professional, large-scale, or chain storage facilities require proof of insurance as part of their rental agreement.

If you do not have personal insurance (like homeowners or renters insurance) that covers off-site storage, the facility will usually require you to purchase their third-party tenant insurance.

Key Considerations for Storage Insurance:

Proof of Coverage: You can often use existing homeowners or renters insurance, but you must provide proof of coverage to the facility.

Mandatory Policies: Major chains like Public Storage, CubeSmart, Extra Space, and U-Haul usually make insurance mandatory.

Why It's Required: Insurance protects your belongings from fire, smoke damage, water leaks, and theft.

Waiving Coverage: Some smaller, independent, or "mom-and-pop" facilities may not strictly require insurance, but they will likely have you sign a waiver releasing them from liability for any loss or damage, making the risk entirely yours.

Where does the OT come up with this stuff? I have rented various storage units for years for personal and business uses. I have been asked about insurance zero times. I have rented from locally owned and national chains. Never has anyone given a shite about my stuff or whether it was insured. Sounds like the person who wrote that post got ripped off by some scammer.

You probably paid the monthly bill without knowing they were charging you a monthly fee for the insurance coverage.

The last 2 times I rented a unit theyv required buying their insurance. One was Public Storage in Gulf Shores and Storage Max in MS.

Tell him to just keep it hooked up to his truck. Make sure he puts a solid lock on it.

Aint no reason to be out galavanting anyway unless he’s headed to go work anyway,
