Also, a cup of coffee does not mean you aren't clean, lol

an hour after you wake up? interesting

I can't recall the name of the receptor off the top of my head, but essentially caffeine mutes that receptor and the hormones it releases. Those hormones are what make you feel tired and crash so if you let that interaction happen when you wake up (hence waiting the 60-90 minutes to ingest caffeine) you shouldn't feel that crash as the caffeine loses its effects.

I once quit caffeine cold turkey. I was drinking about 3 cups every morning. Quitting abruptly was the worst thing I could have done. Massive headaches, anxiety through the roof, depression worse than I've ever experienced, constipation, malaise, fatigue. The works. It finally went away (mostly) and I didn't have coffee for about 4 months. Drank it one morning I was feeling tired when I was doing some homework and I was hooked again. I got more done with that single cup of coffee in my system than I had all week.

I was at a little over 2 cups for a while, but I tapered down to 1 now. I think I'll try to stick with a single cup a day. I feel good with this amount, and I'm not as revved up for most of the day.

Bro it’s just a way of introducing the topic. You think I actually give a frick what you do? This thread is about a suggestion and not a demand. You have to understand when people aren’t being literal.

adds up, anecdotally. i wake up at 5am and usually try to wait until 8/9 for my first cup, but i often have one by 6.

there's definitely a difference.

This seems pretty real after a long stoppage.

Just wait about an hour before ingesting caffeine and you should get all the same effects with no crash.

The study he cites recommends 90 minutes I believe.

I drink a Reign and pop a Hydroxycut Hardcore every morning when I get up. Without it, I don't think I'd be able to function.

Same. At this point it just keeps me right. As soon as I wake up, I hit some pre powder or have a bang. Coffee from 7-4 at work. Start to slide a little in the evening, hit some more powder or another bang or reign. OOC but quitting is not on the menu.

No can do. I'm addicted. So that's not going to happen. And I like it.

I can't remember reading anything about what Mingo is talking about but the current "recommendation" is to avoid caffeine intake for an hour or so is a result of it causing a spike in cortisol. Cortisol is high first thing when you wake up. Cortisol is a stress hormone and it spikes first thing in the AM as part of your body's mechanism to wake up. Caffeine increases cortisol levels so it helps you wake up but it causes a lot of shock to the system. Anecdotally I have found since I moved my first caffeine intake until I have been in the office for an hour or so I don't get the late morning loss of energy even though my caffeine intake is lower overall.

I tend to agree with the OP that caffeine is best used strategically but I don't think that means cutting out its use every day but just cutting out the constant intake across the day like many people do. When I moved from what amounted to a constant even intake across the day to using it at specific times in the day I increased its efficacy while decreasing overall intake.
