for you old timers who might remember, I have a stepson from a previous marriage who I stayed in touch with over the years, He was the man who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and ended up at Walter Reed with some major PTSD problems.
Anyway, he turned his life around and successfully completed an Associates Degree and a Bachelors. He worked for the VA for several years and was working for the Army at the time of his death.
He leaves a 13 year old daughter and two sons, 6 and 8.
Next week, I go back into Crusty old Colonel mode to present a flag to those two boys....
Well, things are really up in the air right now...got a call this morning, everything is straight to have him buried in the West Maryland Veteran's Cemetery (major issue was proving he had two years residency in Maryland...took a whole lot of digging around to come up with evidence)
HOWEVER---this morning as everything was about to be locked in, the funeral director got a call from the cemetery director, COVID hit and no burials next week due to lack of staff...anyway in my discussion with the boys' mom about when everything should happen, I brought up the issue that COVID is the magic word about changing reservations...so hopefully we'll be able to do everything in one day on the week of the 15th...a lot better for everyone than a three day spectacle (viewing on Tuesday, mass on Wednesday, burial on Thursday) so as of now, we'll see!!!

I'm sorry for your loss. The fact that children are involved makes it far worse particularly at their ages.
I've always wanted to motorcycle.
It's probably good that I never bought one.

This. I know way too many people who have been kiled or maimed in motorcycle accidents.

That’s terrible. My biggest fear is losing one of my children. Second biggest fear is my children losing me while they’re still young. Very sorry to hear this and sending big prayers yall’s way.
