The dudes that have to remove them should have the legal right to drop a track hoe bucket on any white liberal within 100 feet.

We know that but the lemmings don't.

I'm mostly upset about the ignorant and willful disregard of factual history.
I don't give a shite about Davis, but Beauregard was local and soooo much more that just a Confederate general and designer of a flag. He was a creole born and raised in Louisiana. Not cajun, a creole. I don't think Mitch understands the difference. He was also a superintendent of West point (for a week, but has LA not seceded, would have been for longer). He joined the Confederate army because Louisiana left the union. The US isn't like today where every thing is Merican and merica. You were your state. That's how I feel most of the time. Louisiana first.
Hell, how many American citizens fought in WWII because the Vaterland came calling? Quick search, we don't know, but there are documented cases.
The loudest voice isn't always right, but is the only one heard. Just sad Mitch is trying to prop up his failed political career on ignorance, slander, and disregard for factual history.

I'm just mad that people have walked by, visited, known about these statues for years without being offended and then one day they decide it's offensive
I bet more than half of the "offended" people did not know who or what the monuments stood for.

Oh give me a break.
Do you really believe this wasn't what Mitch Bitch wanted all along?

I'll say I'm surprised the latter came down. I also don't understand the lines of demarcation between these 4 and those that remain. Not communicating the decision making process did no favors (i.e. Why are these the 4 worst and most urgent)

I'll agree that the way it's been handled and communicated and generally enacted has been shady
Tip of the iceberg.
You want shady? Start digging into some of Mitch's (as well as his siblings) personal holdings. You'll be going for your pitchfork and/or torch.

Add to the fact that Beauregard was one of the few politicians following the war (fully pardoned by Congress) that actually championed civil rights...
Real question is why did Mitch tear down a monument to a civil rights activist?

Beauregard coming down is evidence that the whole thing had little to do with healing any racial wounds, not that further evidence of that was needed

what good is it going to do you to get pissed off over a hunk of bronze and concrete being removed.
They are artwork and have been standing long enough to be part of the city's history - not represent part of the city's history, actually part of it themselves. In these regards, how dare anyone believe it is their's to destroy?

the only ones to confederate leaders and causes. The other confederate monuments in the city are small and lesser known.
One or two is near Jefferson Davis' old spot.

There's a very large bust of a Confederate colonel on the neutral ground of Jeff Davis not 200 feet across Canal from where the Davis statue stood. It hasn't been touched.

Why are honkeys getting their panties in a wad about a statue of a person that really had no significance in their GRANDPARENTS lifetime much less their own?
It's like you could replace the bolded words with "blacks" and "slavery".

Only thing that pisses off is now the areas where they were now look trashy as frick. What little beauty NOLA has they are fricking up places that still look decent. Why not work to make shitty areas look decent. That city is trash. Don't really care about the statues but they did look nice.

This is what happens when you panic and get in a hurry to beat legislation aimed at stopping you...you fail to formulate and implement a solid plan. Which is exactly what Mitch Bitch did. Hell, that clusterfrick last night is proof of that. That bunch didn't have a clue.

Chill the frick out. I doubt you ever even read the plaques on tbese statutes

I don't really give a shite about the statues but I don't live in NOLA. I agree with most in that the situation has been handled poorly. At the very least these things should be preserved in a museum for historical purposes.

Wouldn't be an altogether bad outcome.
