You have no idea. Or maybe you do.

Probably more about those dusty counties in the middle of nowhere.
Yeah like MS. If you have a major medical issue near Memphis, Tupelo, Jackson, Hattiesburg, or the Coast you may make it. If not close to those areas good luck
Level I (4 Hospitals)
• University of Mississippi Medical Center – Jackson, MS
Level II (3 Hospitals)
• Forrest General Hospital – Hattiesburg, MS
• Memorial Hospital of Gulfport – Gulfport, MS
• North Mississippi Medical Center – Tupelo, MS

I do. Believe me, I do.
I have a secret ER/Hospital that I advise family and friends to use. It is underappreciated and undervalued with great service and care. It is still HH, though. Anything non-life threatening, but emergent, we go there. If needed, you'll get transferred, anyway.

Tell me it's in a city that starts with the letter A without telling me.

You know what, golf clap for Louisiana not being in top 10 of this list.

For the sake of keeping my advantage, we will say it is that one.

I’d be interested to see where Alabama ranked if you removed the Black Belt. Not only are the health facilities bad there, but the population in general is poor and aren’t in the best shape. I contend that there’s a dramatic difference in the rural poor between Minnesota and Alabama.

The healthcare in this state is horrible everywhere. Big cities included. Yes, there are some brilliant, caring and hard-working people all over in the field. But none of that matters when the admins are hell bent on killing it for everyone.

Agreed that the economics and incentives of health care are fricked up. That doesn’t differ from state to state.

Some of this has to do with those states at the top of the list requiring Certificates of Need being granted before providers can offer certain services and tools to their patients. It’s all a joke and a ploy to maintain power and favoritism.

That's true, but Alabama being Alabama, finds a way to frick it up even more than most.

Louisiana was 6th BEST for "Quality of Hospital Care Score", but 5th WORST "Healthcare Outcomes Score". That seems odd.
We fat.

LA’s population is so insanely unhealthy, there is nothing anyone can do.

Not really. Our population is horribly unhealthy. Not much doctors can do when their patients waddle in with 48 BMI, Type 2 diabetes, and a few STDs.

Huntsville seems like a great location for healthcare.
Then why are so many people from Huntsville driving across the state line to go to the emergency room in Fayetteville, Tennessee? I took my cousin to the Fayetteville ER for chest pain and the nurse told us that it is not unusual to wait 7-8 hours because the place is full of Huntsville residents. Ironically, if you have a serious problem the Fayetteville ER will transfer you to Huntsville hospital.

Dude the French Quarter, Garden District, St Charles Ave and Audubon Place has the best healthcare in the South if not the country.

Uh, if you’re anywhere close to Birmingham you have access to about the best healthcare the world has to offer.
The same can be said about Houston (and it would actually be true) - but it’s a list of states not cities so…

Texas - major metro areas have some of, if not the best hospitals in the world. Rural areas not so much - not shocking. And Texas has more rural area than any state not named Alaska
