re: State's outdoor activities tier ranking

I think a lot of these ranking are based off stereotypes states have acquired. Most of you who rank states low hove likely never been there before.
I will base this off outdoor activities, not social activities.
Tier 1: North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Mass., Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Minnesota, Colorado, New Mexico, California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, Montana
Tier 2: Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas, Michigan, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Texas, Arizona
Tier 3: All other states. though this really isn't fair. We should have 4 tiers. Also a disclaimer is that Wyoming completely sucks other than the Teton Mtns/Jackson Hole Area, which is tier 1.

It was some Wrong Turn type of stuff.
Not to mention, there are more than a couple of physical features which can be used to identify inbreeding. Pointed head, jaws wider than the skull, eyes too far apart, eyes too close together. Not a guarantee, but when they all come together...

I've been camping there, granted over 20 years ago. I've seen worse in central Alabama or the whole state of WV.

I really want to agree with you, but I cant rank Texas Tier 1. Yes, you have Big Bend and all the stuff around Austin, but sooooo much of the state is a complete shite hole. Pecos, Van Horn, El Paso - awful places. Pretty much anything northwest of Dallas and its suburbs are terrible. Lubbock? awful

You need more tiers. Also, Montana is tier one, Massachusetts is a really big reach for the first tier.

Texas isn't tier one. It gets a A for diversity and a D for quality.
It's similar to Georgia, except that I'd say Georgia gets a B+ for both.

I'd put Idaho in tier 1 as well (really depends on how many in each tier). Amazing scenery, biking, and hiking. Good water sports in the summer.

You are forgetting boating activities and other water activities La. gets to enjoy almost year round.
And the fishing, only some of the best in the nation all around, which most states do not have and cannot compete.
Yeah, no winter activities, no mountains, weak biking, weak hiking.

Alabama belongs if Arkansas is there. And in no way is Ark on the level of Al, Ga or SC in diversity.

Lake Martin is great. Crowded as hell now, but not as dangerous as some of the other super popular lakes in the SE (Lanier)
