there's no question that "Jambalaya" is THE song about Louisiana culture.

BS. The obvious choice is Audubon Zoo (They all axed fo you) but I would accept Opelousas Sostan by Rufus Jagneaux.

I'm going to walk around Richmond, notebook in hand, and ask people "what do you think is the state song of Louisiana?".

Might be interesting.

You do realize that the song is about a disastrous flood and was resurrected for a disastrous Hurricane?

That song is depressing as shite.

Sure. Lets have one of the most utterly depressing songs every written about the state for the state song.

I think it should be "Halle Berry" by Hurricane Chris:

1. I forgot we even had a state song.
2. Don't change it that is one of the few things Tensas Parish has to be proud of. Sunshine (the horse the song is written about) is buried on the Davis property between Newellton. If you took that away all Tensas Parish would be left with is Lake Bruin, good hunting, and incompete and corrupt democrats.
Newellton sues St. Joe because they refuse to pay their part of joint gas bill.
Mayor knew gas would be shut off 6 months ahead of time and told nobody

But for all its faults Tensas Parish is still awesome because it has this:

Agreed. Although I do think Louisiana whenever I hear (seldom) Sunshine.

I like both of them. Why do we just need one state song? Why can't we have state songs?

I would like to add "The Battle of New Orleans"

Word.

Any song about Louisiana has to have at least one crazy Louisiana thing in it - and using an alligator to fire cannonballs at British people fits that bill nicely.

La chanson de Mardi Gras by Beausoleil. Or better yet. Take me home country roads was redone about Louisiana in French by Nancy Tabb Matcantel. Excellent. Look it up

Isnt that song about not getting laid anymore? You know, the girl has taken her "sunshine" away.
