I disagree. The numbers *are* being inflated as they are being claimed as "COVID deaths" (the inference being COVID was the lone or primary cause of death) when in reality they are "COVID-related deaths" (the person had the COVID virus in their system at the time of death and -at least in one case I know of- a patient who died but tested negative for COVID but the doctor marked it as COVID anyway because they "felt" like it was the reason) but it's not politicians, it's the media.
If the media were going strictly by COVID-caused deaths, the numbers would be a LOT lower and there wouldn't be such panic (which the media feeds off of, remember the old mantra "if it bleeds, it leads").
