at the state championing those “covid gains” the last few years. Everyone knew that wouldn’t sustain.

my kiddo is advanced in ELA and science and mastery in math in St Tammany

no idea what that means in the grand scheme of things, but that's what my wife told me.

Unsatisfactory, Approaching Basic, Basic, Mastery, or Advanced. Students scoring Mastery and Advanced are considered proficient,

seems like mastery should be higher than advanced

whatever, glad to know that my kid is ready to move to the next grade level with literally every other single kid in her class

Any school that scores less than 10% mastery in any category should be immediately converted into a jail, and all students should be confined there until the scores improve to at least the (pathetic) state average.

Makes me feel good about paying $0 in tuition for the younger one to go to BR High. Granted it's not a good fit for every kid

Looks like Livingston Parish schools are slipping a bit in the rankings.

Are individual student results distributed online now?

We had to wait for ours to come in the mail back in the day.

i fully agree that not enough parents give a shite, but it's also pretty disturbing how heavily i have to subsidize the teaching myself. i routinely have to teach my daughter math stuff because she just doesnt learn it in school. i start asking questions, and find out that half the time they watched a video online or just got a handout and the teacher didnt even explain anything. and this is in St Tammany which is, ostensibly, the GOOD school district.

and that's just math. it's always astounding to me the level of stuff that she just doesnt know. she couldnt tell me how many states there were in the USA just the other day. i am basically having to run a quasi-home school to subsidize actual school.

pretty pathetic.

if anyone from St Tammany school board or employed by the district sees this post - you should be ashamed.

It means you better keep your head on a swivel about the teachers there trying to bang your kid, that's what it means.

Sammy, don't you read the O-T?

Also, the BMI charts are wrong.

Don’t even get me started.

You have to measure the length times the girth over the angle of the shaft (also known as the yaw) divided by the mass over width.

Mastery = you have mastered the content you need to know.

Advanced = you have advanced knowledge beyond what you needed to master.
