What do the numbers mean?
Percentage of kids who passed? Average score? What?
Usually the published numbers indicate % of students achieving proficient and advanced (basically, content mastery) scores.

Wow. You know some people just got fired and demoted in Central, Walker, and Zachary.
We should do so too… St Bernard scores are shitty compared to Plaquemines, St Charles, and St Tammany

If your kid doesn’t know how many states there are in high school, it is not the schools fault.

No, I think the schools and the students there are just that incompetent.

Baker was a different place 30+ years ago. Sadly, I see the same thing happening to Zachary and Central on a long enough timeline.

If you go to mastery-subgroup-summary you get a breakdown and clearer picture based on race and other things. Eye opening how certain groups bring down the average.
EBR Parish schools while being White is the 2nd highest school system in the state for White. Only beat by Orleans Parish.
While being white: EBR (66%) > Ascension (64%) > Central (58%) > St Tammany (56%) > WBR (51%) > Livingston (48%) just cherry picking certain school systems.

quote:You didn't teach your kid the map of the states with something like a puzzle long before they got to it in school? Not every kid learns all of the state capitals or all of the presidents, but the names of the states, the number of states, their shapes, and their location relative to each other are basic info you can learn from puzzles and games. (My parents or grandparents bought or made us some kind of cards for learning the state capitals and presidents, but that was less memorable and fun than a puzzle.)
it's always astounding to me the level of stuff that she just doesnt know. she couldnt tell me how many states there were in the USA just the other day.
